Ruffie Julian is
listed on first page of the Orphan's Home book, listing Jane Julian as his
mother.
The first page is not dated, however the Orphanage opened in
March 1882. At the bottom of the first
page the date starts 1 Jan 1883.
So I believe the children listed above that date are those present
in
December 1882 when Ed and Malinda Meece took charge of the Orphans Home.
I do not find anyone with the surname Julian living in the County Poor
Asylum on the 1880 census.
Some of the children, listed as Pauper, living
in the County Poor Asylum on the 1880 census are
entered on the first
page of the Orphans Home register.
I believe Rufus Julian had no
idea of his actual year of birth. In April 1891 the matron lists him as
age 7 years, born Lynnville. This is the first notation of his age and
place of birth. Rufus Julian
gives his date of birth as 4 April 1884
on various legal documents throughout his life. When he
registered for
the World War II draft he listed 4 April 1894.
