Killed in action Jul 18, 1918, Chateau-Thierry. Buried in American Cemetery No. 1764, Belleau, Aisne.

Orville's body was returned to Boonville in 1921 and is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery. There are some newspaper clippings from his time in the service where he wrote letters home. Virginia Aldridge sent the following about Orville Lowe:
