Finding Our Warrick County, IN Ancestors

LUTHER MINER born in Rockport IN was the son of ROSWELL MINER
Roswell came to Indiana prior to 1816 from Vermont. Luther married MARY
MCCULLA and together made a home in Newburgh. He was a partner to SAMUEL
WEED operating a mercantile business in Newburgh selling groceries,
hardware and produce. Luther also operated a wharf boat to ship
merchandise to New Orleans. He was active in politics and served as a
town trustee. Luther died in AUG 1860 at age 39 leaving Mary and two
daughters MEDORA and ELNORA. His wife MARY lived to be 87 years old and
died in 1911. They were buried at MYRTLE RIDGE the first cemetery of
Newburgh .
