This is the will of my 3rd great grandfather.

The Last will and Testament of Richard Stevens of Hart Township Warrick
County and State of Indiana, I Richard Stevens considering the
uncertainty of this mortal life, and being of Sound mind and memory
blessed by Almighty God for the same, do make and publish this my last
will and testament in manner and form following (that is to say) First I
give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mariah H. Stevens all that
messuage or tenament situate lying and being in Hart Township and County
and State aforesaid and previous Designated as the South East quarter of
the South West quarter of Section No. Twenty in Township No. Four South
of Range No. Eight West containing Forty acres together with all the
appurtenances there unto belonging or in anywise appertaining During her
Life time and after her Decease, it is my will that the same shall fall
into the hands of my youngest son John Thomas Henry Stevens his heirs
and assigns for ever, it is also my will that my wife Mariah shall hold
all the Residue of my goods stocks chattles and household furniture
until her Death and at her Death it is my will that all the same
personal effects shall be Equally divided amongst all the children.
I give and bequeath to my son William W. Stevens Forty acres of Land lying in this county and state aforesaid and known and Designated as the North West quarter of the North East quarter of section No. Twenty nine in Township four and Range above mentioned to be his and his heirs and assigns for ever & I give and bequeath to my sons Elijah & James & Richard D. Stevens and my daughters Tellisa Ann & Elizabeth Jane & Lydda Charlotte & Serena Adna Stevens fifty dollars effectively as they become of Twenty one years of age or as soon as it can be collected with the exceptions of those that have Recd part in property as the left me then and in that case a reasonable Deduction made and lastly or to all the Rest Residue and Remainder of my personal goods or moneys what kind and nature soever I give and bequeath the same to my said beloved wife Mariah Stevens whom I hereby appoint sole executrix of this my last will and Testament hereby Revoking all former wills by me made in witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and Seal ye this fourteenth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred & forty one

I, J. W. B. Moore, Clerk of Warrick Circuit Court by virtue of my said
office Clerk of the Probate Court of the county of Warrick do hereby
certify that on this the 23rd day of November A. D. 1841 came J. E.
McSwain and of the subscribing witness to the above and foregoing will
and upon oath said that Richard Stevens the testator above named did in
his presence acknowledge the above foregoing will to be his voluntary
act and did in his presence sign or directed his name to be signed
thereto Witness J. W. B. Moore Clerk of Warrick Circuit Court & by
virtue of my office clerk of the Warrick County Probate court on this
the day and year last above written.
