Tommy Kifer (current email address unknown) has the bible of James Rostron. It included birth dates for himself (James), wife Alice Greenhalgh and his parents. There were others who were probably siblings but I'm not sure if they were all siblings or if some were spouses of siblings. A quick search of familysearch.org confirms the parents of James Rostron.
Alice (Greenhalgh) Rostron - was born Feb. 24, 1831 in Frankford, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She died Aug. 6, 1892 in Warrick County, Indiana. You have her maiden name as Granhaigh. The bible entry and familysearch.org has the maiden name as Greenhalgh.
James Rostron - was born Sept. 8, 1823 in Lancashire, England. The bible entry said he arrived in the US in 1849. The LDS library has his marriage to Alice occurring about 1850 in Pennsylvania. The family then moved to Warrick County. James died on May 31, 1895 in Warrick County.
The bible entry shows John Rostron with a birthdate and Catherine Rostron with a birthdate. They were both born in England. Besides James, Alice and the parents there are 11 other birth dates listed with Alice Greenhalgh Rostron being singled out as "(Alice was born in US)" so I take it the other births all occurred in England.
The bible entry went on to say that somehow this family was related
to Sir Arthur Rostron, captain of the ship Carpathia, rescuers of
Titanic passengers but he didn't confirm that fact.
The bible entry can be seen at http://homepages.uel.ac.uk/J.Rostron/Name.htm . The LDS library has John and Catherine listed as parents for James Rostron.
Many Rostrons were buried in Barnett Chapel Cemetery. Pictures of
their tombstones are linked to their names.
If you have questions or problems with this site, email the County Coordinator. Please to not ask for specfic research on your family. I am unable to do your personal research. I do not live in Indiana and do not have access to additional records.
