“Jerome S. Beeler, M.D., is a native of this county, born October 8,
1849 , the eldest of three children born to Henry and Sidney (Patten)
Beeler, both of whom were born in Hamilton County , Ohio . The father
was engaged in farming and school teaching in the Buckeye State until
the spring of 1847, when he moved to Boon Township, this county,
purchasing a farm upon which he yet resides. Mrs. Beeler is now dead and
Mr. Beeler has since married Elizabeth Abbott, by whom he is the father
of three children, two yet living. The subject of this notice was raised
on a farm, receiving sufficient education in youth to enable him to
teach school until attaining his majority. He then read medicine with
his cousin, Dr. Isaac Beeler, of Huntingburgh, remaining with him until
his death. Dr. Beeler began the practice of his profession at Stendal,
Ind., where he remained nine years. He then came to Boonville, where he
has since resided, devoting his full time to his profession. In 1875 he
graduated from the E. M. Institute of Cincinnati and in 1883 graduated
from the Hahnemann Medical College of Chicago. May 2, 1878, he was
married to Flora Barrett, of Pike Count, and to their union have been
born three children, named Otis C., Delta and Lucy. Dr. Beeler is a
member of the I.O.O.F. and he and wife belong to the Baptist Church.”
